Well… this was a surprise. Square Enix have announced Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier, a multiplayer-orientated battle royale title that takes place in the Final Fantasy VII universe. Sounds pretty wild, right?

Final Fantasy VII The First Solider is a battle royal action game set in Midgar before the events of Final Fantasy VII. As a SOLDIER candidate, the player will make full use of their magic and abilities in a battle for their survival.
I’m not really a big fan of mobile multiplayer titles so I’m hoping that this might eventually make its way to consoles – especially since it looks like it’s going to bring a lot of unique ideas to the genre. Will it actually be any good though? Only time will tell…
