Square Enix’s whimsical and vibrant 3D platforming adventure Balan Wonderworld is out today on PC and consoles, bringing with it a joy-filled escapade straight from the mind of Yuji Naka, creator of notable works including Sonic the Hedgehog and Nights Into Dreams.
Check out the launch trailer for the game down below:
Balan Wonderworld is a wondrous action-platformer game themed around the mysterious Balan theatre; home to a mischievous maestro named Balan. The stars of the show will use special abilities from a multitude of characterful costumes as they adventure in the bizarre and imaginary land of Wonderworld. Here memories and vistas from the real-world mix with the things that people hold dear. Twelve different tales await our stars in Wonderworld, each with their own unique quirks. Players will explore all corners of these labyrinthine stages, battling Negati and playing mini-games that are hidden along the way, to get to the heart of each touching story.
The demo for the game saw a bit of a mixed reception from gamers, but with the promise of a day one patch that fixes a lot of issues (find out more about that here) there’s hope that it’ll offer the sort of fun platforming romp that players would expect from Yuji Naka. I think it’ll definitely be a bit of a marmite release though, with gamers either loving or hating it… here’s hoping there’ll be more of the former because it really looks like a jolly experience.
Balan Wonderworld is out now on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Find out more on the official website through this link.
